Ready Youth Conference 1.0

The Ready Youth Conference 1.0 is a product of ReadyToLeadAfrica’s initiative in partnership with the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) designed to promote access to jobs, workplace readiness, career advancement skills and entrepreneurship skills.

The Conference brought together a group of seasoned and diversified panelist who are leaders in the private sector, public sector, non-profit and other stakeholders to drive the conversation and provide guidance to the youth. The panelist included DG, NYSC Brigadier General S. Ibrahim, and Member of the House of Representative, Luke Onofiok, CEO Waffle Ways Aisha Shuaibu, Global President ReadyToLeadAfrica, Godbless Otubure, CEO Connected Development Hamzat Lawal, Digital Content Creator, Victoria Ana and Nnenna Ubani

The Ready Youth Conference 1.0 held on the 17th December 2021 and was focused on increasing youth participation in civic engagement, positioning youths to get jobs and aiding small businesses with the knowledge and resources needed for their growth and expansion.

With an attendance of 57 persons, the conference called for solidarity of youth to achieve change and position the country in the right direction by putting aside rhetoric and sentiments that has done more to divide than unite. The youth were also urged to take leadership positions and display leadership models by connecting jobs, entrepreneurs and civic engagement.

In view of the 2023 elections, the youth agreed to begin preparations while developing skills and seeking opportunities that match their interests and skillset.

NEXT STEPS

  • Hosting The Ready Youth Conference 2.0 in the first quarter of 2022
  • Adopting different NYSC camps to further serve as a means to inspire corp members to be ready to take initiative.
